Lydia Zimmer is a Halifax-based choreographer and the Artistic Director and Founder of ZIMMERDANS. She holds a BFA in Dance (Magna Cum Laude) from The Boston Conservatory and has been creating choreographic work since 2014 – for her own company as well as commissions for Mocean Dance, Atlantic Ballet Theatre, and others. In 2023 she received the Emerging Artist Recognition Award from Arts Nova Scotia and the Creative Nova Scotia Leadership Council. More about Lydia →

Lydia trained at Halifax Dance, Walnut Hill School for the Arts, and The Boston Conservatory, where she earned her BFA. She has also trained at North Carolina School for the Arts, Canada's National Ballet School, Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Jacob's Pillow, Springboard Danse Montréal, and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago.

Yes. Lydia offers workshops and masterclasses in contemporary dance technique and choreographic process, drawing on a wide technical vocabulary including Graham, Horton, Countertechnique, Forsythe, Gaga, Cunningham, and Release methods.
