ZIMMERDANS

Our Mission

To create dark, atmospheric, and often macabre dance works that explore psychological states, identity, and the tension between control and unraveling.

Through character-driven movement and vividly constructed stage environments, the company crafts a series of distinct vignettes that are at once eerie, precise, and emotionally charged. Its work moves fluidly between the strange and the intimate – balancing moments of absurdity, beauty, and discomfort – to invite audiences into experiences that linger beyond the performance.

Our Vision

Our vision is a contemporary dance landscape where the ungovernable has a permanent home — where the work that refuses easy categories gets made, seen, and remembered.

How We Work

Collective

There is no hierarchy in the rehearsal room. Every artist, performer, designer, and maker is a collaborator in the work.

Trust

Lydia works in direct dialogue with every creative partner at every stage. The process is built on trust, not direction.

Integrity

Actively building a culture of equity within Atlantic Canadian dance – one production at a time

Design Collaborators

Independent dance does not have a guaranteed path. We live between grants, seasons, and what institutions will support.
In Nova Scotia, this in-between is getting harder. Our work must exist.
